I’m filling out somethings for a project for one of my classes. I do not at all need this number to be accurate, I am not going to go and speak with an insurance agent, I just need a number that is about what I would be paying forinsurance if I bought a house.

I would use about $600 per year. It depends on where, and how much you are insuring, but if you have to put a number on it, use that. tba

There really isn’t an “average” price. Premiums vary from about 0.5% to 2.5% of the homes value, based on location, construction, discounts applied, etc. If I were using a ball park figure without knowing any details, it would be 1% of the value. i.e. A $100,000 home would be $1,000.
